Looking a bit “darth vadarish” our staff are sporting the latest welding helmets with regulated air-flow.
Previously using face mask respiratorys which while 100% safe did leave our staff experiencing some discomfort as the mercury rose past 30 degrees and the humidity wasn’t helping either.
Now with rear facing respirators and fan-forced masks our crew are in a world of comfort.
The helmets feature integrated clear and smoked filters so staff can switch between welding and other tasks, like grinding, without removing the helmet and the fan-forced air flow keeps both the visors, and the heads, cool and clear.
A couple of our ex-workshop boilys dropped by and suggested we were all going a bit soft until they tried them on and admitted comfort was at a different level and maybe it was time trade up.
As we move into the build-up time our workshop ambient temperature climbs fogging, fatigue and general discomfort are all issues that our staff have to deal with and we’re really happy to support a PPE product that has the potential to make the job easier.
With our workshop going full steam ahead – literally quite steamy as the humidity climbs – with Covid-19 stimulus projects across the Kimberley and Pilbara coming on-line it’s going to be a long hot summer. Residential housing builds continue to be strong across the North despite the price pressures and it’s great to see plenty of construction in the Pilbara, particularly in Karratha.
The workshop does have the advantage of the perfect angle to catch the cooling sea breeze off the bay and now with helmet-breeze we are looking forward to chilled out staff – no light sabres or death stars allowed.
The pictures here show Roy, Mark, Jovito and Tyson styling their new Speedglas helmets, thanks for BOC Broome for the great service in outfitting our guys.
