Local manufacturing company KMPL has achieved CC2 accreditation becoming the first WA company north of Perth to achieve the benchmark.
CC2 is a nationally recognised assurance of quality processes in steel fabrication.
“Quality has been a by-ward for our product and while we’ve had awards and commendations before this accreditation is a massive stamp of approval for us.” Said Paul Watling, Director of KMPL.
The CC2 accreditation includes processes and procedures for design and fabrication of residential, commercial and industrial properties up to high rise.
“With an uncertain climate and stronger cyclones the CC2 certification is assurance for customers they are getting what the designer specified. Our processes guarantee the right materials, the right connections – the whole package so you can bet a cyclone on it.” Said general manager Brock Watling.
CC2 requirements include;
- Certification of suppliers
- Ensuring all materials meet Australian standards
- Fabricators properly trained
- Welds and connections tested and certified
Architects and engineers are looking to ensure that what they design on the page is what ends up being built – no-one wants a safe design being undone by shoddy workmanship.
By calling up CC2 specifications, as more architects and engineers are for commercial and larger residential developments – they are assuring a quality build which can be depended on. Likewise builders selecting CC2 accredited fabricators know that the product they are erecting is fit for purpose.
In the past CC2 specifications within building contracts has meant that work often was awarded to out-of-town suppliers. By gaining this accreditation KMPL is supporting local builders across the Kimberley and Pilbara.
CC2 accreditation is another first for KMPL who have a history of innovation including welded 75mm frames in the 90s, steel roof truss systems in the 00s, fully-rated-tek-screw frames in the teens and now a quality assurance.
“Having survived covid we are looking to bring more innovation to the north and continue to deliver better products and better value for both the residential and commercial markets” said Brock Watling.
